A Private Label Rights Deal So Ugly Only a Mother Could Love It

I mentioned this before but every time the new month rolls around and I get to see what new goodies I get for a mere 15 more dollars, I am truly overwhelmed with a feeling of happiness.  I'm not exaggerating.  I absolutely and totally love GREAT value.  Good value is OK, but GREAT value is rare.  It's even sweeter when I realize that I'm one of the few who realize it because it means all the less competition for me.

But with so much being given each month, and INSTANT access to archives that contain as much monthly goodness all the way back to December of 2006, I realized there's PLENTY, PLENTY, PLENTY to go around for everybody.  And with Jetspinner's totally free article spinning service allowing me to create unique versions of all the PLR articles I get each month, I realized there'd be NO competition OR Google duplicate content penalties.  But PLR articles are only a fraction of it anyways.

Just look at what I just got this month for less than I spend on dinner!

And That Was Just This Month!

When I joined, I also got INSTANT access to EVERYTHING that was given out all the way since December 2006.  Was I so cheap that I downloaded it all and then just quit?  No way.  I think like a BUSINESS person and not a CONSUMER.  Each month has so much value packed into it that even if I was not ready to put a given month's PLR into immediate use, I could still READ it and learn a lot.  I could also trade it with other marketers for products they were selling that I did not already have.  But with that kind of a deal, I sure as heck wasn't quitting.

The Leveraging Power of Having This Much Quality Private Label Rights Material Each and Every Month is Truly Staggering

But many people don't "get" it, do you know why?  Unfortunately, many well-known marketers train them to think like consumers.  Some intentionally, and some by accident.  It's kind of sad, actually, but all I can do is keep mentioning it and pointing out the opportunities of real value.  Like this one.  And that's it.

But if YOU "get" what I'm saying, and you realize that even a total newbie would benefit from Instant Access to almost a YEAR'S WORTH of Private Label Rights material, incl 250 monthly articles, dozens of monthly fresh Master Resale Rights books and scripts, 13 monthly Adsense websites with 13 articles each, and so on and so on and so on... for a mere $15 (including however many months worth are in the archives), then you are poised to succeed.

In fact, I spend $15 per WEEK on laundry alone and it doesn't earn me a dime.

Seriously, even if you're on the ropes just thinking about it, try it out for 1 month, get access to the WHOLE ARCHIVES with NO RESTRICTIONS.  Proceed to download whatever you want and all the high quality PLR you could possibly get your hands on and then just step back and evaluate it for yourself....all for a mere $15!

Sorry, but it just doesn't get much better than that.  Check it out by clicking HERE and don't forget to get your free membership with Jetspinner's article spinning service.

Comment Whoring Outside the Box

Holy crapcakes, Batman!  You mean I don't need yet another version of the already published 3000 articles on how to comment on others blogs?  Cool!

That's right, folks.  I don't get a burr under my skin too often but lately, seeing so many posts saying similar things, it makes me laugh that SEO white knights could ever get mad at something like an Article Spinner.  To them, it's perfectly ok that 8,000 people write pretty much the same darn article on the mysteries and frustrations of Pagerank every week but for you to write ONE article and have it spun into 8,000 unique versions is anathema.

No, instead, you should just do what the white knights tell you and take your chances competing with the rest of the herd according to rules that are outdated and re-written before you even finish reading them.  Right... lol

The Road Less Traveled for Commenting on Blogs

So, as an antidote to the countless number of posts telling you to go find some A-list bloggers blog and make your comment stand out, I have a highly effective alternative method that will loosen the ball and chain around your ankle a little.  And it's SOOOOO simple that you'll be utterly offended.

You find someone who SHOULD BE an A-list blogger and comment on THEIR blogs.

In fact, you can find a B-list blogger (whatever the heck that is) and if they have a decent following but hardly any comments, then FILL IN THE GAP.  It's yours!  You found it and you owe no one any apologies.  Just have something relevant to say.  Something genuine and say it in a way that makes a passer-by want to come to your blog.  In most cases, you'll be first.  Here's 2 examples:

Two Examples

DazzlinDonna @ Seo-Scoop.com

Look at the details of her blog relevant to this article:

  • Excellent writing ability

  • Excellent topic selections

  • Lots of Useful, Interesting Resources

  • Passion for what she does

  • Actively involved in growing (Top Sphinner at Sphinn)

  • Alexa traffic rank of:  45,528 and stable

  • 2151 feed subscriptions and growing

  • Avg 5 comments per post (occasional burst to 10)

This is a comment whore's DREAM blog.  So where are you?  While it's only an estimate, I would venture that for every comment on a particular article, you're looking at 20-30 times more who read it but didn't comment.  So yea, the billions of "how to comment on others blogs!" authors are correct that its valuable, but they don't tell you that competing with 100s of others on an A-list blogger's blog is nothing short of an act of futility.  So off you go to make some blogger look more popular than he or she deserves because you see others JUST LIKE YOU are doing the same thing on those blogs.

It reminds me of a bunch of muscleheads crowding each out on stage to give the judges a better view.

So here's an example of my genuine, relevant comment on her most recent post regarding fisticuffs between Matt Cutts and Aaron Wall that hadn't any comments yet.  Naturally, the comment's a tad controversial but relevant and sincere.

By the way, for those of you who are curious as to why Donna gets relatively few comments compared to her worth?  In my opinion, it's because she's mostly immersed in communities of SEO people who don't always follow their own advice (re: commenting on others blogs for traffic and potential linkbait).  Other than that, thumbs up to Donna!  And thumbs up to you for leaving a decent comment on any of her posts.

Example 2

Aprit Jacob - Clazh Tech & Design

"Hi There my name is Arpit Jacob and I run The Clazh - Tech and Design Blog. I launched this blog on the 1st of April 2007, with a focuse on Technology, Web Development and Design. I try my best to provide quality content, articles and tutorials. The blog aims to build a community around which people can grow and learn from each other."

Details of Aprit's Blog relevant to this article:

  • Appealing layout

  • Passionate and well-informed

  • Excellent writing ability

  • Excellent topic selections

  • Actively growing (89 MyBlogLoggers and growing)

  • Clazh.com has a traffic rank of:  38,644 and is stable

  • Feed subscriber amount unknown

  • Avg 5 comments per post w/rare bursts to 20s

ANOTHER comment whore's dream blog.  Here's an example of my genuine, relevant comment on Arpit's site regarding Google 411.  The goal here is not to score insane traffic overnight but to SEED your (genuine, sincere, relevant) comments out there on popular, growing, but definitely undervalued blogs.  And over an amount of time you've likely already spent spinning your wheels, you'll eventually see a "tipping point" of traffic coming to your blog from these places you may or may not have long forgotten.

Now the aim of this post is not only to share this idea but also to inspire visitors to think for themselves and find unusual ways of doing things or tweaking white knight advice to find your own secret treasure vaults of juice for your endeavors.

In my next post, I'll teach you how to properly STEAL... yes, that's right... PROPERLY and ETHICALLY. ;-)

NOW...

Persona Non Grata Sam Freedom - Always Ahead of the Idiot Curve

"Countless once-skeptical businesses have changed their tune about personas.  The successes have been well documented, but a lot of smart people continue to scoff at the idea, thinking personas are a touchy-feely attempt to connect with customers on, like, a cosmic level — and that you'd have to be some kind of marketing hippy to waste budget on fluff like that."  grokdotcom

Ahhh, the joy of being so far ahead of the curve that the average visitor can't even tell.  Do you know what's so nice about that?  Only the most sincere apply.

In this day and age, everybody wants something for nothing.  Throw out some free tips on how to properly comment on others blogs for attention and you're an instant hero. Or tell everyone that they need to find team members and be nice to them and you're placed on a pedestal with Clement Stone and Napoleon Hill.  But whatever you do, don't show ingenuity.  The movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" pretty much explains why.  Conform or die.

Well, I'm Still Here... Anybody?  Anybody?  Beuller?  Bueller?

In fact, I won't mention any names but very recently I suggested someone do something that would help step their marketing career up a notch.  I was met with fear so I pretty much let it go.

A week later, the same person said that others had approached giving similar advice and that maybe it would be a good idea to implement it (now I know that was just a "manner of speech" because my advice is RARELY the same as anyone else).  So I unleashed the BASICS of what would be going on and even offered 2 of my valued contacts for a kind of support that would unlikely be so readily given anywhere else.

And do you know what happened?

Not only did life intrude (which it almost always will because life mirrors our fear and hesitation) but the person started coming up with their own ideas again.  So again, I am letting it go because a person has to be ready... ready to push through anything, ready to receive success.

And people who run around commenting on blogs solely for attention a) as their main way of getting attention and b) because someone who made it big elsewhere told them to, are doing so out of FEAR OF SUCCESS.  I know this is true for more than one reason but mostly because, when given the opportunity to really advance, they take the ball and run in the opposite direction.  I've seen it too many times.

Not One Person Reading This Right Now Suffers from Lack of Traffic to Their Blog

If Anything, That's Only A Symptom

So In my next article, I'll show you how to properly comment on blogs in an simple, but unorthodox way no one has told you yet.  It's the antithesis to what those who never had to whore themselves out in the comment sections of others' blogs have been telling you.  It's a way of putting others in the herd to work for you which is what the successful have been doing all along.

Now, run along everybody.  Go get your red, hot personas here now that someone's talking about it as if it's the latest great newest thing that can BOOST YOUR CONVERSIONS BY 400%, WOWEEE!!

HURRY, GET ONE WHILE THEY LAST!

ps. Lest anyone feel a bit put off by the light sarcasm or forget why they are here, please re-read the title and subject heading of this blog.  And get used to it.

Quick Free Tip on How to Get Followers on Twitter Fast!

PREPARING THE SOIL FOR HOW TO GET FOLLOWERS ON TWITTER FAST
(if you don't need a spanking but just want the straight dope, skip to the last section)

how to get followers on twitter fast

What I'm about to say in this section is because what I'm about to share in the final section is the kind of tip you likely won't find anywhere else (even Mashable couldn't find a use for what I'm about to show you).  And before I give it, it's my responsibility to crack the shell of the war-weary blogger/visitor that comes here AS IF this were just another blog amidst the 1000s of blogs that are telling you such things as "how to comment properly on other blogs" or how "pagerank is (insert any adjective here)" or that you need to form teams instead of going it alone.  All stuff that can be found in 1000s of other similar articles for merely the price of Googling.

Instead, you need to start realizing that the world doesn't need another typical article on how to properly comment on blogs for traffic (article coming soon).  It also doesn't need yet another slew of rants or treatises on the mysterious, frustrating nature of Pagerank.

sam freedom internet marketing controversy blog freeing minds

What to do now.

What the blogosphere needs are more people who think even outside the "thinking outside the box" crowd.  And that's what you'll find here - even if it upsets certain segments of the blogging community, my loyalty is to freeing and expanding the mind, not to cramming myself into a tiny suit just to belong somewhere.  Visitors here will benefit from this the more they observe, the more they participate.  The more they dare to say, "Shit, now that took balls."

THE WARM-UP FOR HOW TO GET FOLLOWERS FAST ON TWITTER

A Small Dose of Reality

It's just a fact that marketing online is a numbers game.  There ARE definitely warm connections to be made but don't even dare attempt to tell me with a straight face that you, or anyone else, came here with simultaneous intentions of making money AND making friends.  You didn't.  And if you believe you DID, then challenge me in the comment section and you'll get an even bigger lesson (but if you're sincere about it, you'll also get my respect).

The fact is you already have REAL friends.  And if you don't, then you need to examine why because it's definitely going to interfere with your online business.

So no more of the fa-la-la-la garbage about communities and friends.  It doesn't get more disingenuous than that.  Marketers talk about communities and friends in order to keep you in THEIR community and thinking that they are YOUR friend.  It's CLASSIC marketing tech and you fall for it every time.  And not only that, when someone like myself warns you of it, you have a tendency to say, "Oh, not me... I know why I'M here." and that's only because I haven't CHARGED you for this information.  If I were charging you, you'd feel compelled to think more carefully about what was being said instead.  It would be FRAMED through the doorway of a payment you value.

HERE'S THE DOPE ON GETTING FOLLOWERS FAST USING TWITTER

how to get followers fast on twitter using twitterposter

  1. Consider Making a Second Account on Twitter.  You'll be getting a lot of new tweets coming in this way and you don't want to miss your most cherished Tweeters tweets.

    • If you don't want to create a second account, you can always search for, or set up a feed, for tweets mentioning your name at TerraMinds.  This is not an essential step but it is one that I'd be remiss to leave out.

  2. Go to any place that lists Top Twitterers (Big Twits):  TwitterPoster or Twitterholics (thank to Twitter Facts for news of TwitterPoster).

    • Note: It doesn't HAVE to be Top Twitterers.  Any relevant Twitterer is fair game.  It just might take more time and work for your following to grow using smaller Twitterers.

  3. Find and visit Top Twitterers' Twitter page and determine those whose Tweets or presence seems to match the field of your blog's topic.

    • Using 21c as an example, they would be useful if your blog was about global warming or environmental concerns.  They happen to be following a lot of people so they might have done the same thing you'd be doing.  Using them this way could prove fruitful but I think you are better off doing this with the Big Twits who seem more judicious and focussed in who they deem "follow-worthy?"

    • It's also perfectly acceptable to go UNTARGETED if you're just starting out.  It won't be as effective but it's still better than kissing your boss's ass.

  4. Then FOLLOW the Twitterers THEY (Big Twits) are following.  Many will follow you in return (say hello to them if you can).

CONCLUSION

It's ok to do all your hugging and hand-shaking in your cherished blogging communities but don't ever get so blinded by it that you forget this is truly (and forever will be) a numbers game - relationship marketing could not have existed without the "numbers" to back it up.  When dropping a simple TWEET into Twitter can result in a very quick rush of 50-500 visits to your blog article - ALSO TRIPPING THE COUNTERS OF YOUR FAVORITE BLOG DIRECTORIES (therefore pushing your blog closer to the top) - AND EARNING YOU MORE CREDITS ON BLOG RUSH-LIKE TRAFFIC WIDGETS (resulting in more traffic to do not only the same but to also join you on Twitter), is it any wonder why all the allegedly great minds out there that everyone is following haven't yet thought of how simple and powerful this is?

That is why I say you are getting railroaded.

You are told from so many established bloggers that Twitter either has NO USE or else they're acting all GA-GA over the most OBVIOUS USES (like Twitting out fire or earthquake alerts and ZzzZzZzz boring stuff) but if you want to build your readership and businesses up like the PIONEERS did years ago, you have to start using things in NEW, UNEXPECTED ways to get better than dismal or average results.

And screw the people who suggest that doing so is bad for your online health.  It is if you want to be an internet marketing cheerleader the rest of your life .  Just imagine what Christopher Columbus had to tolerate.

Thanks to Dazzling Donna, Andy Beard and JoiKoi for Sphinning a couple of my articles this week.

4 Out of 5 Twitterers Surveyed Said....!

Any ensuing Twitter search, performed at TwitterVolume, are in no way intended to represent anything accurately.  They are done mainly for fun BUT... are also meant to convey a latent possibility about Twitter that, if properly understood and developed, can be VERY, VERY powerful and, quite possibly, VERY, VERY dangerous..

But for now, you need to know that there are...

The 3 Quintessential Groups of People Twittering and Tweeting On and About Twitter:

  1. The early adopters:  you could take the old "tin cans and a piece of string", repackage it and throw it to a pack of these types and they'd tell all their friends about it as if it were the next best thing since Marconi came out with Morse code.  Early adopters don't even necessarily care about all the nooks and crannies, twists and turns, or potentials of a new technology.  They just know that it's markedly different and it [enter some benefit here like "made their pizza warmer" or "cancelled out the frequency of their bosses voice"] and that's good enough for them.

Early adopters will spread the word faster than a case of dysentery passing through a boatload of stowaways.

So if you're an early adopter, nothing short of a long stay at a top-notch mental health facility will make you aware that your habits mirror those found on MTV's, "The Real World." (hint, none of it's real).
  2. The curious but skeptical:  these people are reminiscent of those mid-sized bass who circle a bait for like an hour before finally saying, "Okeedoke... ain't seem to be no hooks 'round here!" even though 2 million other bass have just gone tearing through "the sky" on the wings of an exact copy of the "dinner" on which they're about to "Pownce."

The curious but skeptical will almost always bite if you can keep their attention long enough and/or keep new, flashy competition at bay.  If you're one of them, a good exercise for you would be to visit a Zen monastery in Burma and study Visspasana meditation for about 6 months.

  3. The "what-the-heys":  this clan's holy symbol is a Guinness Book of World Records size question mark.  Not only do they not get Twitter but they also don't even try to get it... unless you consider blogging an "I don't get it!" post as some kind of an unconscious cry for help.  A good example of their being stymied would be single-serve coffee makers.

What-the-heys could easily understand how making coffee at home could result in $X saved every year but they wouldn't fathom why anyone with a good old-fashioned coffee maker would want to pay more, on a per-pound basis, for the single-serve packages.  How about, "because good coffee is already $7.99+/lb and if you're wasting 1 or more cups per brew then single-serve is a potential money-saver, ya stooge!"

What-the-heys tend to not order a $4 glass of wine on a flight because they know they can get if for a dollar less at the airport.  So if you're a "what-the-hey", a good exercise for you would be to watch re-runs of McGuyver.

Ok, now that I've unintentionally insulted about 95% of my readership, let me explain why it's useful to know that...

YOU (go look at the date) are only seeing the "humble beginnings" of the Great Starship Twitterprise.  As far as I'm concerned, it is THE MOST INSIDIOUS social media application I've ever seen.  And since I don't sit at home doing full-scale, techno-droid analysis of each one, feel free to discount that statement to your heart's delight.  But mark my words....

If You Think You Have Issues With the Patriot Act...

If government jackals start kicking down doors in the middle of the night without issuing warrants, in the very least, you have the power to revolt.  But what can you do when you have 100s of tentacles in you, feeding voraciously on the most precious stuff you, or any human being, have to offer:  ATTENTION.

social medias robert scobles starfish is not you - its EATING you.
Oh shit!  So you meant the Scoble Starfish is EATING me?

"Argument One--The Mediation of Experience

"As humans have moved into totally artificial environments, our direct contact with an knowledge of the planet has been snapped. Disconnected, like astronauts floating in space, we cannot know up from down or truth from fiction. Conditions are appropriate for the implantation of arbitrary realities. Television is one recent example of this, a serious one, since it greatly accelerates the problem." Jerry Mander, The Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television

Now, I am not a conspiracy theorist but, if your head has been in this game a while, you'll have undoubtedly found a number of the "What-the-heys" who are blogging, "I just don't get Twitter!" or "What's the big deal with Twitter?" and I believe they deserve a response that doesn't, AS USUAL, emphasize only the "happy-happy-joy-joy" aspects of it.

After all, wouldn't emphasizing only the positive and ignoring all of the negative about social media applications, like Twitter, pretty much put you in a similar category as Donald Rumsfeld?

The fact is, any benefit of individuals (or local organizations) using Twitter is vastly overshadowed by what it portends in benefit to major corporations (or individual rogues who know how to tap into and/or manipulate its data).  For what you really have on a MOMENT-TO-MOMENT basis are a bunch of fairly intelligent, technologically savvy individuals blurting out whatever the heck they want, from pretty much wherever they want and have it almost instantly read by others however they want from wherever they want.

Almost Sounds Like Freedom, Huh?

I would almost bet you ANYTHING that Twitter gets snapped up by Google because data mining MINDLESS activity of this kind and magnitude is simply PRICELESS.  We're not talking about the oh-so-revered "targeted search" at Google, or the supremely glorified site metrics from your favorite analytics.  We're talking about what millions upon millions of people do WHEN THERE'S NOBODY HOME.

The joke backfired and the house burnt down.

Oh I know many people reading this will think that they're perfectly fine and conscious when they're mobile twittering from the local car wash:

click here to see 2 months worth of car wash twittering!

I know, I know... we're all perfectly conscious all of the time, right?  But are we?  With Rich Schefren citing studies showing that the average CEO is productive for about 28 minutes per day and most of us unable to drive 30 feet without going into a hypnotic trance, are we REALLY so conscious?

So now, TWITTER is going to be the ultimate, REAL-TIME honey pot data center for how millions of otherwise "intelligent", tech-savvy people behave when they are free to communicate whatever they want, however they want, to whomever they want, whenever they want, from wherever they want in a totally hypnotic, tranced-out, unimpeded state.

"Welcome to TWITTER, the ultimate data repository for tapping into humanity's TRUE STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS living.  We hope your stay is enjoyable."

Essentially, it's data mining your unconscious behavior on a much deeper level than ever before without having to follow you around with a camera or install one in your living room.  You've done it for them!  On your mobile phones, too!  Awesome, huh?!?!

And Now for Something Completely Different...

The title of this article is "4 out of 5 Twitterers Surveyed..." and it began by saying, "Any ensuing searches, performed at TwitterVolume, are in no way intended to represent anything accurately."  So here's a few simple, fun searches I conducted using TWITTERVOLUME:

R - Rated:  What is the drug of choice for TWITTERERS?

I think you'll be surprised.  Oxys came in so low they were barely a blip.  Seems Twitterers are right in line with the national past time of a good ol toot every now with puff and shoot going neck-and-neck for second place.  Hippies came in a dismal last place with their trippy stuff.

But you'll be surprised which drug Twitterers preferred most!

X - Rated: What are Twitterers favorite Sex Act?

I think readers will be surprised who "came from behind" to win this one.  But you'll see that the data is going to rain hell down on men when Twitter reveals that things between men and women are still truly not, cough cough, so equal in this area.

G - Rated: What do Twitters Like to Drink Most?

The first soda company that comes out with coffee soda is going to rake it in... with or without an account on Twitter!  And let's just say that 7-up was no damn slouch!

Conclusion

As was previously stated, the examples given were meant for fun.  But they're also to make people aware that when the right billion dollar corporation comes along and invests in a decent piece of Twitter data mining software, all those seemingly insignificant tweets that people think are either cool, or not a big deal, or totally insignificant, are going to end up making someone a lot of money...!

The end-game for "Big Money" corporate entities is to get into the heads of as many people as possible so they can trigger calls-to-action, at-will.  Twitter is going to be an abnormally useful tool when it comes to achieving that.

But for now, have fun... and remember, Big Brother is watching you!

The Big Twitter Experiment - And the Most Awkward Twitter Comment Ever?

Welcome to The Great Big Twitter Experiment!

blue twitter bird for the big twitter experimentThis is not at all a joke.  And this is not even remotely some amateur ploy to gain traffic and/or backlinks even if some of that does occur.

As many visitors have already seen in 2 previous articles titled, A Quick Jaunt Into Data Mining on Twitter and Further Exploitation via Data Mining Twitter, I'm quite serious about discovering some of the cooler, unexplored possibilities with Twitter.  And I'm glad to share most of what I find because, frankly, I've got so many ways of making money on the web that it's almost boring.

And what I really want is to sorta give people a bit of a jolt by showing them some neat ways of using (and combining) FREE services for some completely unexpected revelations.  And for that, your very simple contribution can be of immense help.

So Today's Experiment Is...

twitter experiment on sam freedoms internet marketing controversy blog
My Evil Assistant

All participants will be doing are a couple of activities that they are already doing anyways, just in other venues; and so, that I can get some decent data through Twitter AND so others passing through may learn, as well, I would like YOU to help me with the following tasks:

  1. Post a comment below explaining precisely how you arrived.  If it was by search engine, include the keyword phrase you used.  If it was by one of my Twitter messages, you can just say "Twitter" (and optionally include the tweet).  If you are on my email news list, you can just say so.  Or if you floated in from my newsfeed, well... by now, you know the routine.

  2. At LEAST once, but preferably several times, make a TWEET on Twitter referring to "Sam Freedom's Big Twitter Experiment" with a link to this article.  In other words, tell your followers to come see (and hopefully participate in) the experiment.  Using the actual URL is preferable but a TinyURL will be fine.

  3. OPTIONAL:  Link to this article on your blog.  It doesn't have to be forever but even for just a little while.

paste this into your twitter shout box

In the very least, PLEASE tell us below how you got to this article AND what about what you saw made you come here?

I want to show you some of the latent power in Twitter - the stuff that might not be readily available elsewhere.

Other than one of the most awkward tweets I've yet to spy...

Please participate.  Thank you.

Sam to Mission Control... We've Got a Problem Here!

In the comment section below, tell me which direction you see the woman spinning.... clockwise, or counter-clockwise? or both? This one really burnt my brain the first time I got it.

The fact is, she can be seen to be spinning in EITHER direction depending on how your brain is functioning. If you stare at the raised ankle when it's at 6 or 12 o'clock and try to force your mind to see it AS IF it were on the opposite side (so if it was at 6, you force yourself to see it as being at 12 and vice-versa) then you will see it as if it switched directions!

The relevance here is that, once you actually see the switch, and realize that it was "there" all along. You will get an even better understanding of just how well marketing, backed by billions of dollars of research, can take advantage of your mind.

In other words, they already know how you see things.

Here's a free pdf report titled, "The Battle for Your Mind"

I just got to bein' a little curious and, having a few extra minutes to kill, figured I'd see how much Top Sphinners blogs were worth using Weblink/AOL's math based on Technorati rank.   Though the ability to do so is nothing new:  it appeared a while back on Dane Carlson's site which I'll link at the bottom so you can see what the "value" is of your blog, too.

So here are the Top 20 Sphinners on Sphinn's internet marketing news and discussion forum, in order of most submissions gone HOT:

Ning! You Heard It Here Third!

Sometimes, words are too much and a lot more can be said with much less.  Coming from a word crafter, that statement should not be taken lightly.

So the short of it is that a company called NING, using OpenSocial, allows you to create your very own community!  That's easy to grasp but still very strange because it's yet another link in an exponentially growing chain-link fence of social media evolution.

We went from big ol, clunky MySpace and AdBook... whoops, Facebook... places that gave us our own SPACES.

Then we rolled over into StumbleUpon where we just surfed a ton of websites with such frightening ease, voted and "wroted" on them then told friends.

Before SU even made it out of the gate, MyBlogLog, Bumpzee and MyBlogCatalog further ensnared us into big-ass user communities where everyone could see which other members were visiting ir sites and make friends with them.

And now, before any of the other venues gets to even plant its feet, NING comes along and we're given the opportunity to create our OWN communities.  NING has all the feel of SQUIDOO... EXCEPT... and this is a big exception... it's not just a static page...

IT'S YOUR OWN DARN FREAKIN' COMMUNITY!
About Anything... Any little thing your heart desires...

Why I'm Angry with Caroline Middlebrook And Her Big Juicy Guide to Twitter

I'm really angry with Caroline Middlebrook!

I tried to convince her that her excellent, free Twitter Guide could easily be boxed up and sold for an easy $10k-$20k in about 3-5 days but she refused.  She said she was more interested in generating goodwill and backlinks like any good blogger who is in it for the long haul.

I said, "I can certainly understand that, Caroline.  But why not give away the first chapter and THEN sell the rest?", but she refused to budge.  No matter what profitable scenario I came up with, Caroline parried it like a Stanley Cup goalie.

All I can say is... you'd better go soak it up before she changes her mind!  And, by the way Caroline, it worked!  You got your backlink!

Go Visit Caroline Middlebrook's "Big, Juicy Guide to Twitter" and learn how to properly, and profitably, use Twitter to your advantage right now!

(and if you're a blogger, consider linking to it as a valuable resource for your visitors)

Sir Samuel Freedom: Social Media's Errant Knight

how to be a good blogger and avoid bad blogging"Bad blogger!  Bad!  You don't get a cookie or a Digg or a Sphinn or a Bump or a Poke or a Plug or a...."

After about a month of vacationing in the lovely town of Durham, N.C., I decided that my hiatus from blogging had gone on long enough.  Previously, I had been ministering to, and entertaining, a crowd mainly composed of internet marketers who, at one point or another, felt the "sting" of the hype from the work-at-home (WFH) "gurus."  With my quick wit and ability to absorb all the marketing data and concepts at light speed, many people began to find a sort of refuge here - a small, kindly place amidst the rubble of the WFH battles they'd just been through.

After all, it IS a war.  And there ARE battles.  Darwin IS alive and well and almost everyone is COMPETING.  Although victory will still go to the most flexible and creative.

Which brings me to the point of this article and for which I must thank the 26th U.S. President, Teddy Roosevelt...

"Walk Softly And Carry a Big Stick"

Having finally decided to dip a toe into the social media scene, the Sam Freedom way (follow me on Twitter), I began to get the eerie feeling that "as much as things change, they remain the same."  In fact, I encountered new waves of wanna-bes, all excited to think that they were on the cutting edge of something new, something that was supposed to empower them, something that would set them free... to what...?  express themselves more?  The movers and shakers were speaking as if it were simply more power going to "the people."  How noble, right?  And who would dare challenge or question a notion so intoxicating and pleasing to masses of power-hungry individuals impatiently waiting their turn at the mic?  Who would dare?

Like ANY technology, the positives are stressed AD NAUSEUM by both those who KNOW they are in the ripe position to gain handsomely from it; as well as by those who are utterly naive in IMAGINING they might POSSIBLY gain handsomely from it.  So the battle lines get drawn and each begins to fall into rank as to what kind of soldier they're going to be in this new "social media" vacuum, this same old, same old war for POWER.  After all, does any sane person honestly believe that 6 billion people can all REALLY express themselves freely without conflict?

The fact that there are so many new variables coupled with an actual dumbing-down in our formative school years, has left people vulnerable to the phenomenon of recurrence.

"Ouspensky and Mouravieff write about recurrence. Recurrence is a mechanical replay of mechanical circumstances...." Cassiopaea Glossary

And the urge to BELONG, so deeply-seated that people almost have no other choice but to behave like lemmings and just dive into a large, boiling vat of belonging; just another carrot slice or potato cube in the faceless bowl of social media soup.  And they do so happily - happy that their icon, and all the emotions they've crammed into it, are being viewed somewhere... by someone... by anyone... maybe, or maybe not.

Where Are My Fellow Knights?

Lest I become as a disembodied observer watching the whole affair from the tip of a crescent moon, I have had to take a role in this matter, as well.  Like bodhisattva, I have intentionally chosen the role of knight - hacking and slashing at the braids of lunacy or psychosis by which men unwittingly become entangled in their frenzied desire for more... more power, more sex, more belonging, more fame. And yet it never amazes me to see such people return for yet another jaunt through the marketplace of desire, wanting to feel the rush of the herd sweeping across the internet tundra and, again, become entangled in a web of ignoble deceit.

Like Sir Percival, I too hung from Morgana's tree until an errant spur cut free this errant knight.  Tempted, I was, to become an active member of everything under the sun for fear of not belonging.  If I were only a member of one social media round table then I clearly felt the lesser than someone who was a member of two social media sites.  And if I were a member of two?  Then I felt the lesser of one who was thrice.

The Risk of Resisting Temptation

And pray tell, what if I did not Sphinn or Digg enough?  My articles, no worse than anyone else's and, on Tuesdays through Fridays, clearly the better, would not be Sphunn or Dugg in return.

And if I did not state the obvious, such as

Or refused to taint this blog with

I would, no doubt, be cast into despair!  Cut off!  Fragmented!  And lonely beyond repair!

Were it not, however, for my faith in virtue.

Redemption

So whomever you are... wherever you might be... and however you might be encountering these words... you may always remember, and rest assured, that....

You've Got a Friend in Me

Rich Schefren blah blah blahhhh, Part 2

A Tiny, But Necessary, Pre-Qualifier

"I have been on Sam's list for close to a year now, and he has been a big influence on the way I market and also my marketing tactics. He is someone to watch and learn from. And it's so entertaining! I'm so glad I got the Secret Weapon Lite from Sam because frankly I think I might have been a little (!) disappointed after I paid a lot and found out what it was. Thank you, Sam!" ~Brian Beshore

"Sam, Thank you very much for the Lite Version tool, I would also like to thank you for your entertaining style of marketing, I find it very refreshing."  Larry McCann
"Once again Sam, you have told it like it is. I have received at least 8 emails this past weekend from either [name withheld], or his voice box [withheld].  Have you noticed lately how these self appointed gurus aren't pushing anything under $1000? These guys make me sick.  They aren't anything special. They just had the balls at some point to hold themselves out as the expert. I wonder how many of them have actually made any money selling a product that does not proclaim to make it's purchaser a internet gazillionaire? I'm going to guess very few." ~ Big Dom
"Hallo Sam from cold, wet, windy UK. Thanks for this very useful gizmo and keep up the good work on revealing the truth to those who can be bothered to listen." Kind regards, Alan

For those of you who've recently come to know of me through the lifelines I've sown into modern social media, I'd like to make a distinction.  Finding me through the "frame" of social media, there's a good likelihood that I might seem like "just another blogger" seeking his share of the attention pie.  But there are those who have come to know me through the frame of the "work from home" (WFH) sub-culture and see my posts as a kind of sobering revelation in a wilderness full of well-funded, highly misleading advertising.

Back in July of 2006, I published a post titled, "Rich Schefren...blah blah blahhhhh."  It wasn't because I was feeling oh-so-small that day and just happened to feel as if taking a shot at an alleged multi-millionaire would somehow restore me to my proper size.  It was due more to a healthy predisposition to speaking up whenever the bullshit starts to fly.

In fact, when Mike Chen's "Secret Weapon!" (the supremely, over-glorified, split tester) came around, I laid out $497 for it so that I could give the LITE version away to my list members for free.  Feel free to pick upyour own free copy if you wish!.

That being said, the Rich Schefren article linked above was prophetic.  I won't hash out all the details except to say that for those of you who love a good, simple fog-cutting analysis (or drama), all the information you'll need is between both these articles.

As many of you know, Rich just came out with "The Attention Age Doctrine" which is creating new buzz.

On his blog, a recent article read,

That’s why it’s rather ironic that I am writing this post from my hotel balcony in Sydney, Australia, once again disappointed, depressed, and disturbed by what I witnessed yesterday at an internet marketing event I participated in.

There were 16 speakers, many of whom were clients of mine. It was an impressive lineup of self made entrepreneurs who got to their current position by learning, thinking, working hard, and marketing even harder.

Yet table rush after table rush were for so-called "short-cuts" like Private Label Rights Products, Push Button Software, And you just sit at home and get rich while my company does all the hard work for you type products.

Not one person speaking from the stage got to their current position by any of these methods. You would think that the audience would see that. But if you did, you would be wrong.

What’s even more troubling is how unconscious opportunity seekers are to this "blind inner idiot" controlling their actions. Is it only me who sees this? Am I the only one whose perplexed with the inherent disconnect between what people say they " understand and agree with" and what they go running to the back of the room to buy?

This is appalling.  Listen very closely to the last paragraph and it will tell you quite a story.  For here's how it should have read,

"I must deeply and sincerely apologize to each and every one of you.  Those 16 clients of mine were obviously not trained well enough to persuade you that our way is more sound and desirable than the ones to which you all just rushed like a stampede of bison."

Instead, you, the seminar junkie get blamed.  And, truth be told, if there's any blame to be laid on the seminar junkie, it should be for having gone in the first place.

"You Guys Behaved Neither How We Wanted
Nor Expected. Therefore, You Are Idiots."

You've gotta give Rich credit.  I mean, only someone with balls the size of Memphis would have dared try that.

But one visitor replied to Rich's statement with,

"The thing is Rich, some of the experts you coach sell the reprint-rights, PLR, crap. Their whole business model is… target the opportunists. So are you saying that your clients are selling crap to their customers and misleading them too?

You help these coaching clients sell MORE of this crap to people? You encourage it?

[Name Withheld] - your client - got his start selling this crap. He still sells some of it: [site withheld] This page is full master resale rights, PLR, and other garbage… THAT… when it all boils down to it will not help ANYONE build a significant business… just like you say. It got opportunist written all over it.

Look he sells a product teaching people how to sell this crap to other people to: [site withheld].

What do you think of that?

I get the impression you say one thing, but do another.

It’s like you’re fighting against all this “opportunistic” stuff, but you’re in bed with it at the same time. (You’re clients are the guys you don’t want to be friends with? I think you’re smart enough to know it?)

You comments box says “Speak your mind”, and i just did. Your post above sparked these comments.

I’d like to know what you think about what i have just said? Am i right or wrong?"

Don't get me wrong.  Rich shares some brilliant concepts that marketers NEED to learn.  And it's just unfortunate that a guy with as much excellent information and know-how as Rich Schefren blamed the failure of his panel of successful clients on the attendees.

RICH, IF YOUR SPEAKERS DON'T GET THEIR MESSAGE ACROSS, DON'T BLAME THE ATTENDEES!

"What’s even more troubling is how unconscious opportunity seekers are to this "blind inner idiot" controlling their actions. Is it only me who sees this? Am I the only one whose perplexed with the inherent disconnect between what people say they " understand and agree with" and what they go running to the back of the room to buy?"

Further Exploitation via Data Mining on Twitter

Exploit: 1. To employ to the greatest possible advantage.

Being the sole internet marketer (slash blogger) with the specific aim of spreading good cheer and controversy simultaneously, I was very tempted to title this article, "Raping Twitter". But not for the mere shock value that certain sensitive individuals might assume. You'll see why, in just a second..

You see, in a previous post titled, "A Quick Jaunt Into Data Mining On Twitter", I shared my observation that Twitter is completely ripe for some serious data mining. I then included a specific recipe for a cursory exploration into data mining Twitter via the combination of three 3rd party applications found through the Twitter Fan Wiki site. The three were as follows:

  • Twitterverse, which showed a "word cloud" of the most popular phrases over the past 1, 5 and 10 hour periods.
  • TwitterSearch, which allows a user to search any term and see all the various ways and times it was being used.
  • TwitterVision, connected to TwitterSearch, it allows a user to see where a Twitterer lives.

To give an example of the power of Twitter, a Twitter friend named Shahi B twittered me to let me know that alongside TwitterSearch was another application called, "Terra Minds". It was that quick, too. Terra Minds, essentially, does the same thing as TwitterSearch except it allows you to see results beyond the first ten. One search, for example, responded with multiple pages and said,

data mining twitter sam freedom controversy blog

"found 645 twitter updates from the last 2 months
Subscribe to these results: rss"

While it's nice that Terra Minds totals search results and offers you RSS feeds of any search term results you wish, those are not the main "exploits" or "data mining" about which I'm writing. But, just the same, let's entertain them for a moment because they can STILL be very powerful.

So Then, Why Are You Using Twitter?

If you're using Twitter, then you want something.
Or, you're not using Twitter, but you STILL want something....

Once you figure out what it is, you set up an RSS feed at Terra Minds with the search terms that will help you get it. For instance, if you're looking to maintain a friendly Twitter conversation with "in-the-know" persons whom you might not have otherwise had any connection, then missing their Tweet for you, about you, or on a topic you were following could mean a lost advantage.

The obvious thing one might think to do is to grab a feed of THEIR (friends) tweets, or just follow what they are saying all the time. But what if there's more than one person who might speak on something about your target need? Do you really want to be sifting through every single Tweet of a dozen people who might also sometimes be tweeting gibberish? Instead, data mine by setting up the RSS feed at Terra Minds on search terms including things like a) your name, b) your area of interest, c) your area of expertise, d) anything else that might be of interest to you..

It's important to be as targeted in your search terms as possible since you WILL be getting those terms Tweeted from EVERYONE twitting. But it's not as scary as it sounds. Rather than sifting through 1000s of tweets from a handful of well known people who could be talking bunk or about any number of a million topics including their favorite movies, most of these targeted "search result" tweets will, at least be in the target area of your interest and it will be easy to scan them for interesting, targeted information and/or trends.

It can also alert you when ANYONE is talking about you if you ever reach the point where someone might.

Here, This One's Really Embarrassing!
And This, I Must Confess, I Enjoyed...

B
e careful what you twit about, it's ALL indexed and searchable!

As you can see, her editor doesn't need to BE on Twitter. And yes, I wrote and told her. But even my research for this article, leading to her site, just led to a new discovery...

TWIT THIS!

TwitThis is another simple, neat little 3rd party application that allows users on your site to Twit about your site INSTANTLY. It sends visitors to a TwitThis form which will auto-append your site link as a TinyURL to your Twitter tweet. When your visitor uses TwitThis via your icon, all your visitor's Twitter friends will get an instant link to your site AND, get this... that twitted information will end up INDEXED. That means both you and others can find it on Twitter AND Google, for starters.

twit this twitter 3r party application for instant site twitting on the fly!

So what you can do is go to TinyURL, create a TinyUrl for your main page and then create a Terra Mind's RSS feed (by initiating a search) for any instance of your site's TinyURL and you'll get regular notices of what visitors will have said about your site. There's also a plugin for WordPress users that allows their TwitThis button to send "specific pages" to be Twitted rather than just the main site url, so tracking these "page-based" TwitThis Tweets via Terra Mind's RSS could be a little more challenging.

Mine, (non-WordPress) for example, is
http://tinyurl.com/33febb

Personally, I'll be content to suffer my Non-WordPress main-page-address-only TwitThis solution as visitors can still talk about the specific pages in their Tweets and I can then easily track such Tweets by the TinyUrl . But both newbies AND advanced users need to take note:

  • newbies - TinyURL creates the SAME shortened url for the SAME url every time. So for MY BLOG, my TinyURL will ALWAYS be http://tinyurl.com/33febb

  • advanced users: set up your feeds for the last part of the TinyURL only. In my case, 33febb. It seems Terra Minds does not recognize the http:// part.

But That Also Means...
...You Can Set Up An RSS Search Feed for ANY Main Site Address Mentioned in Any TWEET.

Since we just went over that TinyURL makes the SAME TinyURL for any given URL, then you can go check (or create!) the TinyURL for ANY website URL that you want to monitor and your Terra Mind RSS search feed will alert you whenever that TinyURL is mentioned in a Tweet.

This is barely even scratching the surface, folks..

So Why "Raping" Twitter?

With all the usual disclaimers acknowledging that rape is a very disturbing topic, the fact is that it exists. I was curious just how many Twitterers had mentioned the word in their Tweets and it was quite startling, actually (see how many times). While many of us, initially, signed up for Twitter either because we saw it as a means to a money-generating end, a way to meet new friends, or as just plain cool (or all!), there will soon dawn on us many alternative uses for which we had previously never imagined - for example, a rape counselor would have a completely new channel from which to learn about peoples' real-time attitudes in their use of the word AND, also, a plethora of new eyes and ears reporting on new articles and sites related to the topic. And the same goes for anyone in any field, whether a professional or a hobbyist.

With the cursory look into the tools and techniques I've only begun to mention in these first two Twitter-based articles, one can already see how possible and easy it is to recruite a whole new ARMY of info-gathers who are completely unaware that they are helping you... and so far, for free.

Stay Tuned, I'm Going to Run a Test And Get Deeper Into This for You In One My Very Next Articles...

ps. Thanks to Andy Beard for Sphinning the Previous Part.
